It’s the first question most of us ask after we’re confronted with the stark reality that girls are being bought and sold for sex, right in our own cities. Some, many times a night. Some, brutally beaten for their refusal. Some, even left for dead. Our hearts cry out from the horror and the injustice of it all. And then we find out that less than 1% of the victims are ever rescued.
We demand that something has to be done, and that something needs to be now. This was the first question Lee and I asked when we were made aware of human trafficking. Yes, we realized it was a huge issue both internationally and domestically, and that there would be no way just the two of us could stop it completely. But that didn’t matter. Now that we knew about it, there was no way we could stand idly by and do nothing. We could not pretend these girls did not need our help.
I know you feel the same way, because you are reading this right now. Your heart is looking for a way to reach out and save the life of a girl trapped in these unimaginable circumstances.
Here’s how YOU can help! Most of us will never have the chance to literally take the hand of a trafficked victim and rescue them out of her nightmare. Or to spend the months working to restore her life: physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. However, you can help those people who are specially trained to do so. How? You help them by partnering with them by donating your time and resources to their organizations.
That’s what Trafficking Hope and the Hope House of Louisiana are all about. We are not only joining forces with those organizations who are trained to rescue these victims, but the Hope House is also providing a residential program designed to meet the individual needs of its residents by providing transitional, short or long term comprehensive services for these beautiful young women to be healed and to be allowed to dream again.
Today, will you be a part of our efforts? Will you make a donation to help restore HOPE into the lives of these precious young women? Human Trafficking is an enormous issue, and is going to take very large resources to conquer it. But if every person just did their part, gave what they could give, we would quickly see a turn of events. That 1% would begin to become 2%, then 5%, then 15%, until we truly witnessed a complete abolition of modern-day slavery!
